Vocational Nursing Application Procedure

The next application cycle will commence in August 2025 for the Fall 2026 cohort. Applications will be accepted commencing August 15th 2025. 

Seats are offered in order of received complete applications. A waitlist will be commenced after 35 seats have been offered. This website page will provide updates if a waitlist is commenced.

  1. Submit  a college application if you are not already an SBCC student
  2. The Vocational Nursing program Application form (online)
  3. Official high school transcripts:  If an official high school transcript is not available, the student must provide an official GED certificate. International transcripts must be evaluated for equivalency by a professional Evaluation Service.  A list of accepted agencies is available from the Health Technologies Office or the Counseling Office.  Exception: High school transcripts are not required if the student possesses an Associate or Bachelor degree and provides official college transcripts that reflect this.
  4. Official college transcripts: Submit official transcripts from any college other than SBCC.
  5. TEAS test results: If the TEAS test is taken at an ATI or PSI testing site, the student will need to have a copy of their results submitted from ATI to SBCC's Health Technologies Office. Applicants can attempt to take the TEAS multiple times, we will accept your highest score. Only ATI Version 7 will be accepted.
  6. Submit CNA License information, and copy of CNA certification.

2. Submit the following to Admissions & Records:

  • Official high school transcripts
  • Official college transcripts

3. Request your TEAS test results  from ATI to be sent to SBCC using code "Santa Barbara CC PN":

Allow up to 2 weeks for your application to be reviewed and processed.  You will receive an email (SBCC email address) once your application has been reviewed regarding the status of your application. 

Any student who plans to request transfer into, recognition of credit, or apply for readmission into LVN program is required to meet with the Director of the LVN Program. The policy and procedures will be explained at that time and are based on the regulations as set forth by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.

Applicants accepted into the VN program who wish to be credited for previous education must have documentation (College transcripts, Certificates) documenting the education.
