DSPS Support Tutors work within a disability-affirming framework, providing academic assistance in an inclusive environment that promotes focus, self-advocacy, and confidence. Tutors offer individualized support and may integrate the student’s approved assistive technology into sessions, as outlined by their DSPS accommodation plan. While the DSPS Support Tutoring team brings a diverse range of expertise across subjects such as math and writing, they operate as generalists—supporting students in building structure, improving focus, managing time effectively, and reducing academic overwhelm.

If you are having difficulty accessing the online course content due to your assistive technology (screen reader, text to speech software, etc.),  notify your instructor that you are having difficulty accessing a specific tool or document to see if they can provide an accessible version. Then consult with DSPS to assist you or help you work with your instructor.

Please contact us for accessibility requests and concerns at (805) 730-4164 or via email at dsps@sbcc.edu

If you are approved for alternate media, audio books, e-text, or other formats, and need additional support, please contact dsps@sbcc.edu.
